An expressive and beautifully textured mid-century seascape composition, painted in oil onto canvas.
Executed in rich colours and confident brushstrokes, this artwork depicts a lone male figure sitting by coastal huts, overseeing the ocean. The figure is looking out towards the choppy waters, admiring the beauty of nature set before his eyes as strong tidal waves crash in the vast ocean.
With areas of thick impasto creating texture and three-dimensionality – the work is imbued with a strong sense of movement, as one can almost feel the energy of the breaking waves.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with a linen border and inner silver window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very minor scuffs.
