Mountain Landscape by Valencia Chaves

Mountain Landscape by Antioqueño, Medellín painter Humberto Valencia Chaves (Cuban, 1891-1971). He began his art studies with Francisco Antonio Cano in 1906. In 1914, at the age of 23, he was appointed Director of the School of Fine Arts in Medellín, a position he held for two years. He exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art Medellín and exhibited individually in Bogota in 1943. Signed “Valencia Chaves” lower left. Presented in a rustic wooden frame. Image size, 6.75″H x 8.5″L.
