A beautifully textured and atmospheric mid-century landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas.
The painting presents a vast landscape, that is partially snow-covered, and with areas of brown soil and greenery exposed.
The artist has used planes of contrasting soothing colours to create a dynamic visual experience, as well as to demonstrate depth and width to the painting.
The use of the impasto technique – where thick bold strokes of paint have been applied such the paint stands proud from the surface, adds texture and a tactile quality.
This oil on canvas is framed in a deep profile cream frame which suits the painting very well. There are very minor scuffs to the frame corners, but the overall appearance is still very good. The painting is in excellent vintage condition.
