Early American Naive Portrait of a young child, likely a young boy due to the tradition of dressing and both sexes the same until about the age of 4 or 5. This child in a pretty dark green smock and holding a small mug casually in the hand. Looking out in classic portrait form the art shown is a native self taught painterr with a great skill at the blending of face colors but the capturing of the face holds a strong resemblence to adult faces in the set of the eyes and the large lower face, ( note the detail of the face alone in the detailed photos).
Painted on a solid wooden panel and set in an oval gesso frame the measurements are 22.5″ by 18.5″, the depth is 2″. No signature is/was found.
